We as fans get so mired in all the day to day stories that come from the media, and all the speculation, and it is a bit of a different perspective to hear from someone who is admittedly not "invested" in the team, but who covers them as a profession. I have enjoyed all of the podcasts and I hope you will keep them coming...Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10506996757764417853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422944892527683969.post-26987515054541657542016-08-30T16:50:28.168-06:002016-08-30T16:50:28.168-06:00It actually has less to do with Russell and more t...It actually has less to do with Russell and more to do with the other three boat anchors the Flames are currently dealing with on the back end. If they were gone, sure, bring Russell back and put him out on the ice as a third pairing d-man, where he could play within his limits. Teams always like veteran D depth and if they legitimately think there is a window to make the playoffs and maybe surprise some teams, I can see them bringing him back on a cheap ticket -- if he'd agree to such a thing. The latter is up for debate though. So I hear you, but again, I'm not the GM and I know in the front office, the player is more revered than he is externally in those large pockets of fans that share your perspective instead.Darren Hayneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18313656680741630135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422944892527683969.post-49007437674423066782016-08-30T09:07:37.934-06:002016-08-30T09:07:37.934-06:00I know. Meant to acknowledge the handful of depth centers drafted and developed over that period -- Lombardi, German Titov (although mostly a winger), Clarke Wilm, Blair Betts and Dustin Boyd, but alas never squeezed that in. A shame.Darren Hayneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18313656680741630135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422944892527683969.post-69231272235697992162016-08-30T07:40:51.353-06:002016-08-30T07:40:51.353-06:00You guys totally forgot to name drop Matthew Lomba...You guys totally forgot to name drop Matthew Lombardi :(The Team Will Be Finehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13129411718769815614noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422944892527683969.post-91672439092314593772016-08-29T17:54:54.187-06:002016-08-29T17:54:54.187-06:00Words wouldn't describe how mad I'd be if ...Words wouldn't describe how mad I'd be if Kris Russell ended up back on the Flames. The fact he hasn't signed with another team by now speaks volumes. He's just not that great and I'd much rather see a spot open up for one of the younger players in the system.
