But I know some dismissed him of having any NHL potential at all and it seems that maybe he can be a poor man’s Micheal Ferland on the third line. There is room in the league for those players, for certain. What to do with Jagr is an interesting subplot of all this but then again, perhaps another injury occurs by then opening up another hole. Having too many quality forwards is never an issue so ultimately, see if he can keep it up and then try to fit everybody in.Darren Hayneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18313656680741630135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422944892527683969.post-16826799941070026592017-12-10T23:08:57.905-07:002017-12-10T23:08:57.905-07:00Interesting thought. It’s an image I struggle to conjure up. Still so dynamic on the PK together. But who knows, maybe something radical like will be tried at some point. It really depends on how the team performs. Are they beginning to build something os is another setback looming? Thanks for the note and the MGM line? I can hear the roar of the lion already!Darren Hayneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18313656680741630135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422944892527683969.post-33926311675363590392017-12-10T19:37:53.152-07:002017-12-10T19:37:53.152-07:00Hathaway has never been a prolific scorer at any l...Hathaway has never been a prolific scorer at any level (his 19 pts in 18 games in the AHL this season notwithstanding). Generally, a player's prior history can give us a reasonable idea of what we can expect at the NHL level. If they weren't putting up points on their way to the NHL, odds are pretty good they aren't likely to wow us when they finally arrive in the bigs.

I guess in a long-winded kind of way what I am saying is that I am not expecting all that much out of Hathaway, in terms of producing points. I'd happily be wrong, though. I appear to have been mistaken about Hathaway; I doubt he'll ever be a prolific goal-scorer in the NHL but he is potentially an effective checking forward who could become the kind of super-pest that disrupts the other team's top player and contributes offensively too. I'd like to see him on the second line for a few games; it means limiting Jagr to the power play and an occasional shift with Brouwer and Lazar, but that could actually work in the team’s favour – Jagr would be less likely to be injured and would have more room to manoeuver on the PP and could help (a lot) with zone entries, and the fourth line becomes less of a nightmare when deployed in game-critical situations.OutOfTownFanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16498510738563265026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422944892527683969.post-7714836342056005942017-12-10T10:27:10.646-07:002017-12-10T10:27:10.646-07:00Good Players play better when they play with bette...Good Players play better when they play with better players. There's nothing stopping Hathaway from being a "Burrows" type to Bennett and Jankowski. I have always liked Hathaway and I think the most important element of his game is still his ability to draw penalties, which is a skill directly resulting in goals. I would however like to see Hathaway tried in lieu of Frolik on the Tkachuk line.

Matthew Tkachuk-Mikael Backlund-Garnet Hathaway

MGM line

That's not a knock on Frolik, but I just think he could help a different line more than he is helping Tkachuk and Backlund.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03539898382293653793noreply@blogger.com
